Are You In Love With Your Business?

Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night BURNING with excitement about the impact your business will have on the world?

Do you get flutters in your tummy about the big leap you want to make with your business?

Yes ……? The  excitement and anticipation of bringing your dreams to life fuels the passion and energy you need to keep driving your business forward.

Or maybe you are a ‘no’…… maybe your thinking about the future of your business is a little tepid and you are waking up each morning feeling beige about what the day will bring and maybe even dreading getting up to face it.

Where are you?

Is it time for a “reboot” – do you need to fall in love with your business again…get excited about it’s potential and the impact it has on the world?

Our relationship with our business can be like any other relationship – we need to tend it, nuture it and value it…otherwise it will dry up, turn bitter and disappear.

Remember the moment you made that decision to go into your own business – the ‘yes’ feeling, the belief that your passion could be turned in to a successful business and that wonderful impact you would have on your customers.

Remember that moment?

When did you last feel like that??

Honestly…….

Was it yesterday, last week, last year or maybe last century? Chances are you may be feeling fed up with your business, you may be working harder and longer and earning less than when you had a job and your dreams of freedom and a wonderful work life balance have evaporated.

It’s time to fall in love with your business again.

Time to recapture that ‘just in love’ feeling and to rekindle the flames of passion!

In years of working with business owners, I know that it they don’t feel the passion for their business, then neither will their customers. And if the customers don’t feel it, sales start to decline and the business withers. The start of the self-fulfilling prophecy!

Passion is infectious! It makes people’s eyes shine, it gives them a wonderful energy that we all want to be part of! You can probably think about one or two people you know who have passion for their business and who you love dealing with. Don’t you come away form these interactions feeling lighter, happier and more enthusiastic? And even compelled to buy?

Time to get that loving feeling back!

Try this Five Step Plan to Feel the Love!

Step 1: Uncover My Passions

What does fire you up? What compels you to leap out of bed each morning to go to work (or what used to?). When you think of what you want to be known for, what springs to mind?

Spend a few minutes thinking about what your three top passions are.

Write them down!

For instance, mine are making a difference in people’s lives (work or personal), understanding more about what makes people tick and creating resources to help people gain clarity, knowledge and take action!

What are yours?

Step 2: Passion-o-meter

Take a look at your passions and get a view on how often they are fired up. Give them a 1/10 if they are gathering dust as they are so underused and a 10/10 if they are strong and fully utilized every day!

Step 3: Imagine If…..

Ponder those passions where you scored less than 10/10.

What would your business feel like if you were scoring 10/10 on those and they  were being fully served? Would you feel more excited, more engaged and maybe even more in love with your business??

How different would your day be? What impact would this have on your customers or potential clients? Or on your staff, suppliers and your family?

Step 4: What Has To Happen?

Now you know how amazing it will be to get a 10/10, and the difference it would make to how you feel about your business….. what needs to happen now? What do you need to do each day to move your passion to a 10/10?

For each passion list five things that you could do to ensure you get a chance to bring your passion to life each day.

My actions would include; coaching someone every day, creating new tools or resources, chewing the fat with someone about the ponderous topic of what happens inside our heads!

I would also include some personal things in there too, as these feed and nourish my spirit – so waking my children up with a hug and tickle in the morning, walking in the sunshine and a great coffee.

Write down your essentials to get your passions up to a 10/10.

Step 5: Commit!

Time to recommit to your life, your business, your passion. Make the time to do those actions you identified in step 4, commit to letting your passion shine through and infect others!
