Clearing the clutter: It’s a question of priorities

pile of paper - clear the clutter

I spent today with a new client. She’s an artist and a businesswoman with a studio-cum-office in her back bedroom. Unfortunately, she’s got so much clutter she can’t even get into her home-office anymore. In fact, she’s got so much clutter that clearing it from her home-office isn’t even the most important thing for us to do. Priority number one is to get the kitchen sink clear of dirty dishes…  …but the dishwasher’s not working properly and she can’t afford to call someone out to mend it. She’s run out ... Read More »

Begin with you and improve your self-esteem

woman

Hello World! I’d like to introduce you to…You! In my recent experience, I’m regularly meeting women who are struggling with their body image and self-esteem. They tell me that they find it really uncomfortable to look in the mirror and take the time to look at themselves. I’m often told they just can’t do it or it’s a look beyond exercise: “The dress is lovely. Not on me but it’s expensive and they’ll notice that”: “I can’t look in the mirror so I’ve got the same clothes in several colours, ... Read More »

Release Your Inner Strut: The 5 Things Successful Women do in the first hour of waking

Alarm Clock

The difference between a great day and just another day on life’s treadmill can be found in what takes place upon waking. OR b) Wake up naturally before the alarm goes off, think positive thoughts and then rise for the day happy ... Read More »

Assert your personal boundaries and be treated better

hands friendship heart

Non-Love  is one of the more significant ways we let ourselves down.  My definition of Non-Love is allowing other people to treat us in unacceptable ways without doing anything to put a stop to it.  The repeated thoughtless and careless behaviours we’re exposed to damages our confidence and self-esteem. It’s even worse if they’re already low to begin with. With close relationships we tend to be even more reluctant to deal with such behaviour because we want to ‘keep the peace’ at all costs.  The problem is that the resentment ... Read More »

To attract attention, you have to show off!

show them what you can do!

Recently, a client of mine complained, “I’m really good at what I do. I shouldn’t have to market myself.” In fact, he is quite good at his profession, but the problem is that not enough prospective clients know about him. Like many professionals, he is reluctant to talk about his accomplishments. “It feels like bragging,” he says. “Doesn’t it make me seem unprofessional?” If thoughts like these often cross your mind, ask yourself this — who are the Read More »

Don’t let stress crash your holiday party: 5 warning signs and 7 helpful tips

no stress

The holidays are upon us and many of us are rushing about trying to put it all together before December 25. Fully half of us might say we are stressed to the max and can’t wait for the holidays to be over. Think back: is this the same pattern you have followed year after year — after year? Why does this happen? We see in commercials and in cards that this is the season to be jolly. Many of us Read More »
