It is that time again!
Every year Women Unlimited hold THE conference of the year for Britain’s Female Micro Business Owners and 2014 will be no different. This is our 6th annual conference and promises to beat all previous ones. Year on year, our conferences get better and better (or at least that’s what you tell us!) and we can’t wait to see what this year brings.
In 2014 we are going back to our home away from home…and will be holding the Women Unlimited Business Conference back at our favourite venue, The British Library Conference Centre.
The economy is picking up and optimism is in the air. But now is not the time to sit back and relax, it is the time to step up and really make your business SHINE. Time to build and grow on all that effort that you have been applying over the past few years.
You will laugh, you will cry, and you will come away full ideas, inspiration and new relationships with amazing business owners.
This year’s speakers
Laura Tenison MBE
We are thrilled to announce Laura Tenison as our keynote speaker for Thrive 2014. Laura is a multi-award winning founder of JoJo Maman Bébé – the UK’s foremost retailer for the pregnancy and baby market. She began with an idea 20 years ago and has turned it into an international £60m business that sells through the fabulous high street stores, direct mail and online. Laura is still very hands on in her business and having launched her business with a baby under her desk, really understands the challenges of being a woman in business. She will be sharing her story, insights and tips on how to build and grow a successful business. I (Julie) have seen Laura speak many times, and every time come away with a new respect and insights that I can apply in my own business.
Araceli is the co-founder of the Founder & Director THECUBE ( London ) and WECREATE ( NYC) – is a social entrepreneur, neuroscientist and speaker. She studies the relationship between neuroscience and innovation and has created cognition tools to help the brain reach homeostasis which creates the ideal environment for innovation. She delivers visionary thinking to wide range of industries. In particular she facilitates a new understanding of tomorrow’s society, business and people. THECUBE and WECREATE have a 21st century business model which is modeled after an ecosystem rather than a company. The end game is to create smart communities which create a smart economy.
Araceli is going to be talking about the type of intelligence we need to be able to achieve the changes and create successful businesses in the 21st Century.
Alicia is a long time member of the Women Unlimited Community, has done webinars with us, is a social media and online marketing mentor for solo workers and runs the fantastic Twitter Brilliance course. She was featured in ProBlogger and Social Media Examiner, and in 2013 TopRank named her one of the UK’s top 50 online marketing influencers and bloggers. Alicia is going to do a session on how to Set yourself up for Social Media Brilliance where she will share simple strategies and techniques that will shave hours off your social media marketing and give you the latest tips on how to get real results out of your activity.
Teresa is one of the best coaches I have had the pleasure of working with. She helps executives and entrepreneurs create ambitious careers and businesses that are satisfying and sustainable so they can aim high knowing they have the skills to deliver incredible value while living a well-balanced life (however they define it). She works with her clients to redefine what success means for them and what will give them the greatest career satisfaction, both day to day and longer term. After working with Teresa, business becomes manageable again and work life balance is (almost!) inevitable. Teresa is going to do a power session with us called Restoring Resilience: how and where to find the time, energy (and the motivation!) to deliver your very best work
We are looking forward to having founder of WayForwardSolutions.com, Kay White, who works with businesswomen, all around the world, on how to truly sparkle so they attract more income and opportunity as they own, position and express their value day-to-day.
During her own 20-year corporate career, Kay worked in the City of London and in Paris to Director level as part of a successful, mainly male, fast-paced team of global insurance brokers. Negotiating multi-million pound, industrial property insurance contracts around the world, she learned (often by her own mistakes) how to – and crucially how not to – be heard, valued and noticed, for the right reasons. Kay’s going to show us how to use key words and phrases – just like accessories – to add sparkle, polish and shine to what we say as we go about our business and how they help you get to “Yes” with people more quickly, naturally and effectively. (She tells me they also work just as well at home too with those trickiest of customers – our children!). Kay is going to do a session called Communicate & Influence with Confidence, Style & Ease for your Business (and life) Success where she will show you how savvy, influential communication adds personal sparkle and value to what you say, and why!
Julia Langkraehr is a dynamic entrepreneur who has built three multi-million pound retail businesses in the UK, Germany and Russia.Julia’s business, Retail Profile Europe pioneered, developed and professionalised the retail merchandising unit industry in the UK. It leases modern, temporary kiosks to start ups, small retailers and promoters in the walkways and common areas of shopping centres, railways stations and other venues. In the decade since she launched her business in the UK, she’s lost it, restarted it, rebuilt it, and merged with her biggest competitor, Space and People. Her company now has offices in London, Glasgow, Hamburg, Moscow and Delhi and its turnover topped £30 million.
Currently, alongside her commitments to Retail Profile, she is a highly sought-after facilitator, coach and mentor. She has worked with over 800 people in 17 countries, across six continents, teaching unique skills to business leaders, which allow them to differentiate themselves in their respective markets and build their businesses. Julia is going to be sharing with us her top tips for negotiating in your business.
After 32 years of office life Jan Jack gave up sorting out paper clips and doodling on office notice boards to enter the world of stand-up comedy.
Just over four years later she’s running the highly successful Basingstoke Comedy Club, Laughter-House, and has two other business – her training business Jan Jack’s ‘Stand Up Stand Out -Humour to Win Business’ (www.janjack.co.uk) and Perfect Verse Bespoke Poetry www.perfectverse.co.uk).
